Writing Steamy Scenes the Right Way

Objective: Readers will leave this session with the dos and dont's of writing kink and BDSM in romance novels.
As a reader who dabbled in kink early in life, I spent a lot of time wondering where the information I saw in books were coming from. 50 Shades of Gray was a series that did outstandingly well but received a ton of backlash from the kink community. Here in started my journey of becoming an ally for those who live the kink lifestyle and making sure representation in the writing community is not only accurate but also a form of self-discovery for many.
In this session you will learn the following:

- Roles of Dominants, Submissives, and Switches in the bedroom and beyond
- Types of consent and the differences between reality and fiction (Enthusiastic, Dubious, and Non-Con)
- Setting up effective play scenes
- High level overview of what is often written about in Dark and Erotic Romance: Impact Play, Degradation, Praise, Knife Play, Blood Play, Primal Play and more.
- Effective before and after care

** The ideas in this course are not a manual to Kink and BDSM. No one should practice play scenes without enthusiastic consent from their partners. You should always be under the guidance of a mentor whenever you chose to try something new.

By the end of this workshop authors will feel empowered to write accurate scenes that represent realistic behaviors in their characters. The knowledge in this workshop will help authors write longer more passionate scenes for their stories. We have past the point of a few smacks on the bum! Now it’s time to dig deep into the fantasies of our readers.
