Description
Christian fiction dates back to the earliest days of the first century A.D. Pilgrim's Progress (1678) by John Bunyon is one of the most significant works of fiction in the English world. Moving to the nineteenth century with Little Women and then to the great C.S Lewis' in the twentieth century with The Screwtape Letters and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, we come to present day writers reknown for their Christian fiction. These include Francine Rivers, Jan Caron, Karen Kingsbury, Tracie Peterson, Lynn Austin and Lori Wick. Popular Christian fiction is often set in historical times, such as Westerns, wars, and Amish culture. Although this genre is not meant for a general audience, its popularity is a significant part of publishers' inventory and offers first-time writers opportunities for self-publishing.
